Font Wrapping Around in an Intranet Site

P

Parker

Hello All,
My boss, when going to an intranet site using IE6 has fonts that are larger
than anyone elses and the words overlap in a specific region that make it
unable to read. All other PC's accessing this site do not have any
problems. This machine is an XP pro SP1 machine. Is there a setting that
needs changing or an update(other than SP2) that is missing. Or will sp2
fix this problem? Not sure were to look! Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks In Advance!

Have you tried, in IE, going to View...Text size and changing it to
something smaller?
If no joy, in IE, go to Tools...Internet Options...Accessibility button and
make sure all items there are unchecked.

Hello Parker,

Thank you for posting in the Windows XP VAP newsgroup!

From your post, my understanding on this issue is: On your boss's computer,
the fonts in IE6 are too large to read when accessing a specific intranet
site. If I misunderstood it, please let me know.

First, thanks Jon Kennedy for your input .

Parke, please try Jon's suggestion first.
If the problem still occurs, you may could try these steps:
1. Run regedit.exe.
2. In the registry, navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\International\Scripts\3. Then if you see an entry labeled:
"IEFontSize" simply remove it to return to normal size.

Otherwise, I'd like to double-confirm one thing with you:

Does this problem only occur on the specific intranet page? If so, you may
let your boss take these actions on his machine:

1. Clear the IE cookies and temp files.
2. Open IE -> Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced, click Restore Defaults
and then click OK.

If there's any further question, please feel free to post back.

Hello Again, Still no joy after trying both of the suggestions. It looks
like the print on the screen is just too large and it overlaps the second
line. It's very odd that it is only on this one PC. Any other ideas?

Thanks Again

Hello All,
I have found the problem. In the display settings on the desktop in the
Advanced button the DPI setting was at 120 instead of the default at 96DPI.
As soon as I changed it back to 96, the webpage was fine.

Thanks Again for The Suggestions
