folders window view settings not retained

Win XP Pro, all windows settings for active screens of
folders (any and all) including Windows Explorer, do not
retain the size or other display view settings and all
only display maximized. (IE windows display does retain
settings)

Have tried resizing and then alt X closing windows = does
not work (does not retain settings) tried Safe mode
resizing = does not work.

How do I reset the desktop folder display to retain size
and other view settings -?

month ago with an other system with same problem did not
fix it as per the suggestion.

Any new ideas please as to Reg key reset or any other
suggestions please.

The Default for Windows XP is to remember the view settings for the 400
most recently used folders.

I saved the old reg keys just in case and then applied
the bags8000.reg downloaded from the 'kellys-' site.
Then re-booted, then resized and set 'view' options to
what I wanted for each folder and closed it, then re-
booted again and, and, like magic they are now all the
Size, position and view detail as I wanted.
Looked at the key details to determine what was changed.
Interesting how simple it is.
