Folders View is blank

A few weeks ago we performed a security update on our Win2K Server (SP4) and
since then we cannot view the folders in Windows Explorer.

When we choose to view folders all we get on the left pane is a grey panel
with a cross in the top right corner. There are no icons and no text at all.

The right pane shows folders, files etc as normal.

Does anyone know how to correct this ?
