Folders open at startup

B

Bob H.

Yesterday I was having some problems... two of them
actually. Doug Knox helped me solve them but in the
process another one popped up. Now when I open my
desktop, this file opens automatically;

C:\Documents and Settings\Bob H\Start
Menu\Programs\Startup\SmartDraw

I ran a program of Dougs called StartupTracker3... but I
do not see it in the log. Here is a copy of that log...
any suggestions?

Bob,

Since the Startup Tracker doesn't report anything resembling that path in
the Start Menu startup vectors, I suspect that you've inadvertently created
(or copied) the SmartDraw folder to the Start Menu, Programs, Startup
folder.

Right click the Start button, select Explore. Expand the Programs menu,
then the Startup folder. If there is a subfolder in Startup called
SmartDraw, make sure there's nothing in it that you need, then delete the
folder. Or copy it somewhere else.

I was able to duplicate this behavior by copying a known folder on my system
to the Startup folder.

Startup Tracker only looks for shortcuts in the Start Menu, since that's all
you would expect to find, or an actual file on occassion, but you don't
expect to see subfolders in Startup.

Hope this helps!
