Folder shortcuts opening in new window.

In Windows Explorer (in Windows 2000 Professional edition), I have a
case where Folder A contains a shortcut to Folder B. When I click on
the shortcut, I would like Folder B to open in a separate window.
Instead, it just opens in the original window. Is there any way to
change this?

Hey Greg,

You could set all folders to open in their own separate windows via
opening Windows Explorer->Tools->Folder Options...->Under "General"
tab->Select "Open each folder in its own window" radio button->OK
button. I don't know if there is any way to just make a particular
shortcut open its own Explorer Window.

Hope this helps.

Thanks! As you say, this isn't quite what I was looking for, but I'll
play with this new setting and see if I like it better.

Hey Greg,

A coworker just told me that if you set all folders to open in the
their own window (per my instructions above), you can hold down the
CTRL key while double-clicking on a folder to force that folder to
open in the SAME window. This may reduce the clutter of all those
extra windows around.

Hope this helps.

Hey neat (or kewl or whatever)! .... that works the reverse way too. If
you set all folders to open in the SAME window then holding the CTRL-key
down while opening will force the folder to open in a second window.
