Folder Redirection

D

Dion Paul

I created a policy to redirect user's My Documents folder
to a network share that is a subdirectory of their home
drive "\\server\users\%username%". The files were moved
successfully, however all files were placed in the root
of their home directory. I thought that the My Documents
folder would automatically be created (not the case).
Anyway, I changed the location path to "\\server\users\%
username%\My Documents" but the files were not
automatically moved from the previous location. I
manually had to move the files.

Is there anyway to have the system automatically do this?

Also, the user's synchronization process synchronizes all
files and folders in the home directory and all I want to
synchronize is the files and sub-folders in the My
Documents directory. I have other folders setup in the
user's home drive that contain database files and other
files that will not synchronize properly and so that is
why I do not want them included in the synchronization
process at logon/logoff.

Is there a way to reset which folders get synchronized by
the policy?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you very
much!

This depends if you running Windows Server 2003 or Windows2000, if you
running Windows Server 2003, you will see the redirection location below at
the configuration window. However if you use Windows 2000 you have to write
like the follow \\server\share\%username%\My Documents\ In Windows Server
2003 we have a option to create each users My Documents folder under the
root location
