Folder permissions

Mike

Good morning,
I have an access 2000 database shared over my network.
I have a folder that contains the database shared out to
certain users. They have read only access in that
folder. If one of the people that have read only access
to the folder opens up the database, no one else that has
read only access can. It gives the error, cannot lock
file. Is this something that I can change in the
permissions of the folder? Most of the people I work with
know jack about computers and I don't want them to delete
anything. From what I know, they have to be able to
create and modify a certain file everytime they open the
access database. Please let me know what I need to do.
Thank
you for your time.

Respectfully,
Mike

This is not an Access group.

Access needs to create a record locking file (.ldb) in the directory with
the .mdb file, so the users will need to have permission to create that .ldb
file and delete it.
