Folder Pathways

Hello ... "April Fools are gone !! :}

I'm working with my music collection and I have ended up with WAY too much
space for the songs, and duplication.

I have a program that scans and lists the duplicates that can be deleted.

The songs are scattered out through 1 hard drive and 2 external drives.

I am trying to go through all of the scattered sites where they are, and
move them to a single folder on each drive, and eventually merging the
results from all of the drives at 1 location on 1 hard drive .. for example
"ALL SONGS THIS DRIVE", where I can run the duplicate program from the 1
folder.

When I try this, moving scattered "song" folders, instead of all of the
folder files "merging" into the one named folder "ALL SONGS THIS DRIVE" ...
I keep getting "subfolders' under the single folder that I want, example:
ALL SONGS THIS DRIVE
Music
Music
Music

Can someone assist me with a short lesson on how to move and copy to 1 MAJOR
listing ???

I've tried using the old "cut and paste" ... same results ... and I've tring
using V-COM Power Desk 6.

Any help or assistance GREATLY appreciated.

I just do a search including sub-directories. Once I have the list,
I do select all and do a [Ctrl]-[C]. then click on the target drive
and do a [Ctrl]-[V]. The files are all dumped into the sub-folder
(-minus) the tree structure since all I did was tell it to copy the
files not the tree).

Ciao ...

Thanks for your reply.
I'm not sure I did it right ... I did a regular search of the drive, the
problem arises because I have other items on the drive ... it's not just all
music ...
the other items on the drive get jumbled in with the music files.
I'm trying to work by just getting these folders on the side and then trying
the steps you suggested.
