Folder listings in Network Places

Hope someone can help me solve a couple of Network Places puzzles.

First puzzle is the way Places are displayed. I have one desktop,
named Archie, and one laptop, named Nettie. When I open Network
Places, I find them listed in 4 separate groups, like this:

Archie (Archie)
Place 1 on Archie (Archie)
...
Place 19 on archie (Archie)

Archie (archie)
Place 10 on archie (archie)
Place 11 on archie (archie)
etc....
laptop (Nettie)
Place 20 on laptop (Nettie)
Place 21 on laptop (Nettie)
etc...
This computer
Place 30 on Archie (Archie)
...
Place 39 on Archie (Archie)

The varied capitalizations are puzzling but not troublesome. The
listing of the various places in three
separate groups (and alphabets) is. If I sort them under the computer
column, the separate groups
remain. If I sort them under the Comments column, the display
eliminates the groups, but introduces a
separate heading for each Place, which is even harder to follow. - Is
there any way to remedy this?

The second puzzle is that one folder I had deleted long ago, remains
in one of the Network Places group lists.
It apparently continue to reside within Document & Settings' Net
Hood. If I click on it within Network
Places, it opens with all its original files listed, and these can
actually be opened and executed. I realize
that I can delete (& restore) it from the Network Places listing, but
I'm quite mystified by this
reappearance of deleted folder and files. Explanation would be most
welcome.

with thanks,
Justine

For your first question:

On the menu bar: 'View' -> 'Arrange Icons by' -> uncheck 'Show in Groups'

Not sure about your second question...offline files, maybe???

Many thanks, Keith, for your straightforward, fixes-it reply. Duh! If
you're still feeling charitable, I'd sure like to know the difference
between "This Computer" and Archie (on the desktop) and between "This
Computer" and Nettie (on the laptop).

I think you probably hit the second question, too. I do have a file
with the same name on an external disk. Though this was the only one
on that disk that showed up in Network Places, it was no problem to
add two shared others from that disk. Still seems a bit odd, but at
least understandable, which helps a lot.

I'm not sure of the difference. Networking is not my strong suit :)
