Folder do not respond

Hi,
I am baffled at this one here.
I am running win2k sp4, with Bit Defender AntiVirus program, and Outpost
pro firewall, and only sort of recently has this problem occured.
I have multiple partitions on a large HD, and it is the partition with
has all my programs on it that is causing a problem. What happens is I
open up Explorer/file manager to access some files. I click on the
folder I want, and then it freezes. So I use Task Manager to close down
explorer and try again. Now usually this does the job, but today nothing
does it. All I get is a freeze up on that particular partition, but
sometimes the files will show after a few seconds, then thats it
explorer locks up.
I have used a 3rd pary antivirus and spyware programs to scan my whole
system and there was nothing amiss
Any ideas?
Thanks

This is an update here.
I have found that almost clicking on any file that is NOT on C:drive on
my system causes Explorer to lockup/freeze for anything upto 15 minutes
before it becomes responsive again.
There are no viruses on my system after yet another scan, and all I can
think it maybe is something to do with either my resident AV program
which is BitDefender8, my software firewall program which is Agnitum
Outpost pro. When I look in the log for outpost I see that a connection
has been refused to port 445 NetBios. Could this be the culprit?

Thanks
