folder contents display in reverse alphabetical order

Suddenly and (to me) inexplicably, all my software
applications started displaying folder contents by name in
reverse alphabetical order, driving me nuts. I have tried
hitting the "arrange icons by name" button, which resets
them for the instant, but on reopening a folder they are
reversed again. Any suggestions how to make this go back
to normal?

Hi

Arrange the folders as you like, then go to Tools>Folder Options>View and
click on 'Apply to All Folders'. Restart Windows Explorer.
