folder behavior and window explorer crash

I have a folder on the drive where some of the icons are
large and others are small and when i open the folder
window explorer crashes and I copied the folder to
another drive and same result. whenever I open that
folder window explorer crashes and this does not happen
with any other folder. ran sfc and still same results.
reinstalled xp and no change in the behavior of the
folder. anybody has solutions to the problem.

have you checked for vireses. run a vires program

Are you thumbnailing the view for the folder that holds the icons?

If yes, may want to try turning that off. By default XP renders the bitmap
image as the file's icon so thumbnailing is not necessary.

Another thing to try: It's possible that a "bad" file is causing the
problem. Move a few files at a time to the new folder. Open the folder to
check it's okay. Move a few more. Eventually, you'll get to a group that
contains the problem file. Using process of elimination, figure out which
file (or files) need to be removed from the folder for it to work properly.

One more thing: If you look at the folder's properties and see a page tab
for Adobe, use the options on that page to disable their viewer.
