FN key stuck on start up...

I have a Dell Inspiron 5000 that the Fn key seems to be stuck.
Pressing the Num Lock will return it to normal, but after rebooting, it
retuns to the "locked" state.
I have looked in the BIOS for a Num Lock setting & there is none
Any suggestions?

The value was already 0, but it is not being turned off...
Is this problem before or after login? After login it assumes the
setting of the user.

Then it sounds to me like the profile isn't saving the change when the
user logs off. So is the user logging off or just shutting off the
system? Or, is the system "patched" to abort saving the profile after 5
attempts? Try another profile?

There is only one profile & user doesn't have to enter a username & password
to log on.

In that case try logging off (with NumLock Off) and back on and see if
the changes stick.

It might be independent of the operating system and be "locked" or
"enabled" in the BIOS.

There is no place in the BIOS to set this.
I have created a new user & profile, tried seeting to "off" & then log off &
back on.
I have also changed it to "off" & then shutdown.
No matter what I do, as soon as I log on, the &#%$-ing Numlock light pops
back on!
Why won't it stay off?!?!?!?

I did create a new profile & had the same results.
What I did was in that new profile I went to Current user hive in the
registry & created the same key with the value at 0 & it worked!
