Floppy Drive does not recognize disk

My OS: Win XP Pro / SP2. My Floppy controller and Disk drive are both
recognized as working properly in "Device Manager", but the device does not
recognize a disk when it is inserted. Please help.

Light "always on" on the floppy drive?
Checked for bent/broken pins where the cable plugs in? (if one broke off in
your floppy cable from the old drive - it could be breaking/bending out of
the way pins on the new drive - so try a different floppy cable as well.)
