Floppy disk error

When you access a floppy disk, you may receive one of the
following error messages:

A:\ is not accessible.
The device is not ready.
-or-

Disk is not formatted
The disk in drive A is not formatted.
Do you want to format it now?
-or-

STOP: The disk media is not recognized, it may not be
formatted.
I'm getting all of the errors above. We are using Windows
2000. I'm not able to format the disk at all even though
the floppy disk is formatted. I some information from the
Knowledge base article 140060.

Thanks for any help or advice.

These are common error. Since windows 2000 is NTFS format
and by default floppy disk will be formated in FAT 32. Try
to format and use the disk. If it dose not work your
floppy drive is not working in good condition.

I am not sure that one can conclude that the floppy drive
is not working. It may be a possibility. I have exactly
the same problem. I thought it was the floppy drive, so I
took another harddrive with Windows 2000 installed and
connected it on the computer which did not want to read my
stiffy disks. And you know what, the stiffy drive read all
my stiffy disks. When I replaced the harddrive, I was not
able to read my stiffy disks agian and received the same
messages as below.
