Go to Computer Configuration => Windows Settings => Security Settings => Security Options, right-click "Devices: Restrict floppy access to locally logged-on users only", click "Properties" and change "Disabled" to "Enabled". steve

G Guest Jun 30, 2004 #4 but he was asking as to win xp, hence this newsgroup. and no there isn't a win xp resource kit that he could get. it is referred to in some kb articles but was never publicly released and the win 2k rk may not work well in xp as there are some big differences under the hood as far as security policies are concerned
