Fliclering desktop items

I need some help. All my desktop icons disappear for about a second or two.
does any one know how to fix this problem? thank you for reading?
 
Sounds like the desktop is refreshing. How often does this happen? All the
time, or just after you finish a particular program, or what?
 
It happens most of the time when I quit a program and out of the blue. I have
ran defagmenter and it still does it and the hard drive about 15 gb out 80
gbs full.
 
That's not very unusual. Sometimes, not always, my desktop will refresh when
I quit a program. If it is happening WHILE you are IN a program, then there
may be cause for worry. Depending on how a program releases resources when
it exits, you get refreshing of the desktop. I wouldn't worry about it
until, as I said, it starts happening within a program.
