Flicker in when editing Powerpoint slides

When working on Powerpoint presentations using Powerpoint
2003 the slide flickers repeatedly five or six times when
I first click on a slide to edit it. These slides do
have a background but no animation or rich media (just
text). This does not happen in slide show view. Any idea
what is going on?

update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

We have seen this occur when there is some incompatibility in the display
driver which is exposed at the higher hardware acceleration settings for
the driver.

Try reducing the setting in the display control panel:

1) Open "Display" control panel
2) In "Settings" tab click on the "Advanced" button
3) In the "Troubleshoot" tab reduce the level of "Hardware acceleration"
and click "Apply"
4) Repeat step 4 until flashing stops, then click "OK"

Thanks, it fixed my problem too. What is the planned fix for this? Will
there be an update for PPT2003 to address the ClearType/font smoothing
issues?

Doug

That did it. Thanks for pointing me in the right
direction.
