Can't stop PPT slides from continually flickering when editing

I have picked up a flcker in one of my PPT files (not all).

When attempting to edit, the slide flickers for about a minute and then
stops. Changing slides starts the flickering over again.

I have checked and verified that all animation features are off.

The problem does not occur in presentation mode

I've seen this happen. An update of the "graphics card drivers" fixed it for
me.
