Flashing Windows and Program start menu

I cannot access programs from the Start Programs menu. When I slide the
mouse over the program that I want to start the menu flashes off and the
program does not iniatilize. Also, when I am selecting pictures in the thumb
view I have to delect very quickly or the window flashes and the frame resets
to the top of the file list. I then have to scroll down and find the pi's
again.

Please help this is really annoying. Thanks.

Is your mouse connected to the PC through a KVM switch?

I've had Windows behave erratically when using a mouse connected through a
KVM switch, when that switch didn't fully support the mouse.

Thanks for the tip, but I am unsure what a KVM switch is -- the mouse is
wireless and connects through a USB.
