Flash player

I am getting really tired of adobe flash player and various web sites.

I've done everything instructed, suggested, etc. and this crap keeps
happening.

Road runner continuously ask to update, various other sites say you need the
latest flash player.

I wish they would just stop using it. It really wastes a lot of time and
effort, while more importantly restricts access to content at many sites.

Is there a permanent fix for this? Again, I've spent a lot of time at
adobe's web site, support, uninstalled, rebooted, closed IE, reopened IE and
on and on...

What can I do to resolve this?

Anything?

I thought of complaining to the various sites, but the lengthly process of
even finding contact information, or the laborious task of providing my life
history, joining their web site, opening an account, etc. is just not worth
it.

yeh, it is a problem
but here is a solution.
it basically entails disabling
all the browser add-ons
then re-installing the player.

1) go to microsoft.com and
download "autoruns"

in autoruns go to the ie(browser)
tab and disable all your
add-ins by checking the
box then double clicking
the filename. the registry
will open up and show you
the state of the keys are
are disabled.

then reboot.

2) next go to adobe and
find and run the flash player uninstall
program.

3) afterwards re install the flash
player

Adobe-Macromedia Flashplayer

I, too, hate Flash and do not have the POS installed.
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=pos

I never get reminders, or invitations, just big holes in some web pages. If
the page designers are going to use Flash, they deserve big holes in their
web pages. LOL

I had to delete 57 Registry entries after uninstalling the POS.

Set the kill bit and block the POS.

Or use Flash Killer in SpywareBlaster.

SpywareBlaster
[[SpywareBlaster doesn't scan and clean for spyware - it prevents it from
ever being installed.
The most important step you can take is to secure your system. And
SpywareBlaster is the most powerful protection program available.]]

Flash Killer: Macromedia Flash can be used to display animated interfaces on
websites, animations, and other "Flash" content. Unfortunately, advertisers
have begun to use Flash as a method for creating annoying and distracting
content. And some users that wish to keep Flash off of their computers
altogether have found it troublesome to prevent every website that uses
Flash from installing it. Flash Killer can set the kill bit for the
Macromedia Flash control (versions 4.x, 5.x, or 6.x) - preventing the
installation completely and disabling it if it is already installed.
Reversing this procedure is easy.

Uninstall the POS Flash player.

How to remove the Macromedia Flash Player ActiveX control
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_12727

Internet Explorer | Tools | Internet Options | Advanced tab |
Make sure both of these are NOT checked.

Enable Install On Demand (Internet Explorer)
[[Specifies to automatically download and install Internet Explorer
components if a Web page needs them in order to display the page properly or
perform a particular task.]]

Enable Install On Demand (Other)
[[Specifies to automatically download and install Web components if a Web
page needs them in order to display the page properly or perform a
particular task.]]

Click Apply | Click OK

"When Install On Demand is enabled, the browser will download ActiveX
controls when the browser determines that the necessary control is not
already installed."

Necessary? KMA! Flash player is not necessary, it is an annoying POS.
