Flash player installation failure

I have run the installation program for Flash Player repeatedly. It says it
is successfully installed, but it isn't. I've tried all of the suggested
fixes without success. What is the problem?

Flash Player 9 April 2008 Security Update (version 9.0.124.0).

1. Check version here:

2. How to uninstall the Adobe Flash Player plug-in and ActiveX control.

2a. Alternatively, uninstall "Adobe Flash Player Active X" in Control
Panel\Add or Remove Programs, if it exists.
