I have tried to install flash player
the installer seems to work fine but I am unable to find it on my system
I have reviewed all the troubleshooting on macromedia website and followed the instructions. All my settings in internet options are as I was instructed in advanced, Security, and privacy. I have installed the stand alone flash, same thing
-- Macromedia shockwave player is not listed in add remove nor is it listed in c:\Program Files nor is it listed anywhere when I click, start, search for all files and folders. (except for the install program in docs. and settings)
It is not on my computer
When I search the registry I find many references to it under
HIKEY_CLASSES ROOT\ such as Authorware, flash factory, macromedia extension, flash paper etc.
I have followed many of the instructions from others.
Finally, Since I was becoming obsessed I decided to format my hard drives, wipe out everything, and start over.
After installing windows xp and before doing anything else, at all, I went to macromedia web site and clicked install flash player. This time I did get the †install now†button. (I was not displayed on my screen before)
I clicked on it
The install ran smoothly I got the flash movie and a message saying flash was installed
I restarted went to program files
No flash player
Control Panel, Add remove, no flash player
My Computer, Explore C and D, No flash player
The next thing I did was to go to update windows and install all the many updates
I went back to the web site and tried to install again , same thing
I don’t understand, There is nothing unusual about my computer or my copy of windows.
Other people must be having this problem but just give up.
