flag email sent by custom application for Outlook reminder popup

I want to flag emails sent by a custom application to generate reminder
popup dialogs in Outlook. I am currently sending email via SMTP but would
consider another protocol if that would solve the problem (would prefer a
..NET solution).

I already figured out that I can set SMTP header values for "X-Message-Flag"
and "Reply-By". This does result in the follow-up flag and due date being
displayed in Outlook - but I don't get a reminder popup dialog even though
the due date has passed. I do get reminder popups when I send a flagged
message from Outlook.

I am currently using Outlook 2002.

This issue seems to be related to development. Therefore, I suggest you
