Fixing User Account Settings

Excel 2003 started malfunctioning under my Admin User Account - (ie., under
the Tools menu the Options dialog box doesn't open). When I switch to
another Admin or Limited Account, it works fine. Thus I suspect it is a User
Account setting problem!. Any idea on how to fix this?

You probably have a corrupted Excel registry key or value, and you need to
make the correction, delete or replace the value or registry key.

At least one of these fix options should work:

1) Logon with another admin-user account and go to: Start button\Run\and
type: "regedit" (no quotes) and press Enter... next browse to the
Excel-Options registry key in the following path:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Version#(9, 10,
etc.)\Excel\Options. Press "Print Screen" and save to an image file and save
it to an accessible to the affected user account, open the same registry key
and compare the values in the "Excel Options" registry key.

2) Or do as follows while logged on with the affected user-account, go to
Start button\Run\and type: "regedit" (no quotes) and press Enter... next
browse to the Excel-Options registry key in the following path:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Version#(9, 10,
etc.)\Excel\Options

Delete the Options key, and restart the computer... the key will be restored
to default settings.

3) Or, logged on with the other admin account and go to the same "Options"
registry key, right click and select "Export" name the registry edition file
and save to an accessible folder from the affected account, next logon with
the affected account, go to the file, double click and accept or right click
and select Combine, you will probably not loose the Tool\Options settings..

4) If.. 3) doesn't work, delete the Options registry key first and then
execute the saved .reg file, this may change the Tools\Options to the other
admin account settings.
