Ok, my Windows XP Professional failed to boot (I believe it was corrupted by
a virus) and would reboot before reaching the logon screen. At this point, my
ideas went way down hill and I think I'm all screwed up. So, what I did was I
reinstalled Windows on my second harddrive, which at the time was blank. I
figured once I installed it, I could go into the partition of the original
installation and fix whatever was wrong. Unfortunately, this isn't the case,
as all I see on that partition is a /temp folder. However, the Disk
Management says the drive still has 67 GB on it used, so I'm pretty sure
everything is still there. I just can't see it. I suspect this is because
Windows is trying to protect the data. So how can I get at it? I tried the
Backup utility, but that didn't seem to work. I'd just like to get at it so I
can either repair it or move all the data including the installed
drivers(minus the system files) to the new partition.
By the way, trying to boot from the original partition gives me a "NTLDR is
missing" error upon boot. I suspect this is because the MBR simply doesn't
recognize the partition as bootable, I could be wrong about that, though.
Any help would be great, thanks.
