Don't know if this would apply to anyone else's PCs
but.......here's what fixed mine!!! (AMEN!!!)

Hope this helps someone else.

PROBLEM:
Windows XP system CDs (both DVD and CD-RW) read/write
properly if present on Window Startup but could not swap
CD without restarting Windows

RESOLUTION:
I uninstalled ROXIO EZ-CD Creator 6.0 and In-DVD
Rebooted
Reinstalled Version 5.0
Rebooted - DVD worked but CD-RW would not eject disk
Using download from Roxio site, upgraded to V5.35

Rebooted.......... ALL IS IN ORDER!

Have no idea what is with Version 6.0 - here I thought I
was doing a good thing by upgrading and I wound up
screwing up my system for months!

Hope this kind of gives you some sort of hints.......
Good Luck, Pam

Did you update the EZ CD Creator to current (it is 6.1 something lat I
looked).

Actually - this problem all started when I upgraded to
V6! The problem began after I loaded 6 so I backed it out
but failed to create a restore point (stupid) so I
reinstalled 5.0. BUT forgot that I had downloaded XP
support files so.....the problem persisted and I stupidly
began investigating other possibilities. I now know
better but am gun shy and I think I'll wait a bit before
trying the V6 install again. When I do, I'll be sure to
go to Roxio and get the latest upgrade before crying foul!
Thanks for your interest.
