I've been doing computers for a loooooong time and this s/b simple! After
setting up my account, when I click Send/Receive I get a box asking me to
verify my login and password on my email server. Well, it does not accept
them!

Anyone have any ideas?

HELP!!!

Thanks,

Val

Make sure you are not using incompatible third party security
software. Windows Mail is not compatible with most McAfee
and Norton security programs. Those will need to be
uninstalled, not just disabled.

After uninstalling your non-compatible antivirus, download
and install a more compatible antivirus like the free Avast:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Even compatible antivirus programs will need to have their
email scanning option turned off. For more on this topic see

Valerie,

I too am having hte EXACT same problem. What is the deal? Did you ever
figure it out. Was Gary's suggestion helpful?

Does anyone have any more plausible solutions? I'm not too thrilled about
not just temporarily disabling but removing my anti-virus program--whichI
paid for and came highly recommended--with some unknown freeware to protect a
computer that I got with much expense.

Surely there is some other way than this. Anyone?

Why the hesitancy? Uninstalling one's antivirus is not an irreversible process.
If there is no improvement, just reinstall it.

After the antivirus is uninstalled, you may need to delete the corrupted mail
account, restart Windows Mail, then recreate that account.
