first name missing in recipient list for making labels

Some of the names appear and some don't. I have done everything the same
throughout.
 
Dumb question, but have you examined the data source file to see if there
actually *are* names for those records? Depending on version of Word you may
be able to find out using the Sort & Filter features of Mail Merge.

In order to obtain more meaningful assistance you'll have to provide
considerably more detail than you've shared so far:-)
