Firewire connection issues

looking for some help here...win mce 2005, sp2...using sony tv18 dv cam, when
connecting firewire, windows does not recognize the camera. I have TI OHCI
1394 host in device manager, but strange thing is, it is absent in net
connections as 1394 net adapter, which raises flg to me. Cam set o DV out,
but like i said, nada when i plug cable into either of 2 ports, one is
onboard. I will replace cable first, then any other suggestions? Nothing in
imaging in device manager either...
