Firewire and Vista

I have just been informed by Epson that Vista does not support Firewire
after trying to connect my R1800. It picks upo the port etc but can't
install the printer on that port. Is this correct about firewire.

Jack,

Vista supports Firewire. If you have Firewire on your computer, you can
check this fact in your Device Manager. The fact that Vista picks up
something when you plug the printer into the Firewire port shows that support
is there.

Your problem likely is that the drivers for your printer aren't Vista
compatible. Epson needs to supply the drivers, if not available natively in
Vista. That's likely what Epson was indicating when they said that Vista
doesn't support Firewire (for their printer). If Epson and Microsoft have no
drivers for your printer, then you likely have to buy a printer that is
compatible with Vista.
