firewire and dv camera

my pc will not "see" my digital video camera when
connected via 1394. I decided to have a really good look
at the device manager and found that under system devices
(hidden devices) my sm bus controller and firmware hub
device do not have drivers installed - is this normal or
could this be the source of my probs? They do not have
yellow markers on them - so i am assuming that they are
working on some level.

Are the sm bus controller, and firmware hub, enabled and
working properly, without the drivers,it should state
that in the properties area. I would get the Disc, that
holds the 1394, aswell as the sm controller & Firmware
hub drivers, and try using the hardware, update wizard,
from the properties area, for each item.
