Firewire 800 Drive Will Not Wake

Hi,

I have a LaCie Big Disk Extreme Firewire 800 Drive connected to XP SP2.

Unfortunately, when the Drive enters a Sleep State; it appears in Device
Manager with Yellow Asterisk (Error 43) and will not wake.

Is there a registry setting I can make, to prevent Firewire devices (or
individually specified drives) from entering a low-power state?

I am having the exact same problem with my Firewire drive. I keep getting the
error 43 and then I have to reboot in order for it to be assesible again.

Apparently a hardware or driver problem. From the article:

Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

Recommended resolution

One of the drivers controlling the device notified the operating system
that the device failed in some manner. For more information about how to
diagnose the problem, see the hardware documentation.

On the General Properties tab of the device, click Troubleshoot to start
the Troubleshooting Wizard.

Thanks for that Sharon. But I have already gone down that road.

Troubleshooting the device thru Windows does not help at all and the driver
used is the default Windows XP driver. So it wouldn't surprise me at all if
it is a driver problem.

I have uninstalled the device and let Windows do the Add New Hardware
Device. Soon, I am just going to try to reinstall Windows and go from their.
