Firewire 800 and External HD

Hello i have an Emachines m6811 laptop. I am using a firewire 800 cardbus and
a Mybook Pro 500gb external HD, win XP SP2.

When i use the My book with usb it works great and when i try to use the
firewire 800 it will give me an error message saying "The request can not be
performed because of an I/O device error" Anyone know anything that will help
me with this? Thanks alot!!!


The Firewire 800 Card bus im using:

ok a little more info on this, when i connect the firewire up to my laptop,
it reads the Mybook (G and then starts auto run. Auto run doesnt finish
but it doesnt hang ether, it searches for a few sec then just dissaperars.

When i go to my computer it says G: (mybook 500gb) so when i click on the
G: i get the error message.
