When I singed up for cox internet they have their own security firewall, but
when I did an update to my windows sp2 it disabled my cox firewall. When I
called cox they said that I had windows xp firewall and that I did not need
cox firewall. I liked it becouse I could read it. With windows I can't. I did
everything it said to do to created the log but I still can't read it. Any
help please
P.S. can you run both?

Windows firewall has been made especially for home users (guys who doesn't
have big computer knowledge) and that's why it works almost automatically and
asks rarely. It monitors only the incoming traffic (the most important) but is
very good.It logs are called pfirewall and are in the main Windows directory.
I work as computer specialist but I also prefer Windows Firewall to other
firewalls.

Just to add to what Panda_man said you do not want to use both firewalls at
the same time as conflicts and reduction in performance will most likely
arise. If you do not have a need to block outbound traffic based on
application rules [assuming Cox firewall can do that] I prefer just using
the Windows Firewall and as Panda_man said you can configure logging for the
Windows Firewall in the advanced page -security logging though it may not be
as elaborate as that of other host firewalls. --- Steve
