Windows XP firefox problems

My mozilla firefox is playing up.

For some reasons unknown to me, it doesnt allow me to send emails on gmail account. I can log in as usual, read but NOT send emails.

Also, on certain websites, such as Opodo, when I select search function, it doesn't respond.

Why is this?

Will uninstalling and reinstalling fix the issue?

Un-install then re-install it..That sorts most problems, then check for updates etc...
