4 Trojans! Mcafee as well. [Trojan.ByteVerify &
Downloader.Trojan]

Updated :)
I submitted the KM build .exe to http://www.virustotal.com for a
result via multiple AV scanners.

I am happy to report that the results show *no virus* :

http://encoderx.co.uk/AVresult.php
FWIW, Fred has incorporated several new scripts as macros in his
updates and some of these /could/ be causing false positives. Also
FWIW, Eset NOD32 found no viruses.

OT: Very nice site. Some of my favorites listed. (Kaufman, oh Kaufman,
why did you stop programming ?)

Thank you :)

Within the next few weeks I'm going to do an extensive software addition to
the site plus try and move servers - a tough task but, worth it :)

How the memories come flooding back with Mail Warrior - it was my very
first steps at using non-M$ products - many moons ago now!

The closest thing I found to MW (which I now use) is Geminisoft Pimmy but,
MW will always have a special place in my heart for the above reason.

Kind regards

It's worth a great deal (to me at least).

I view NOD32 as the top/trusted AV - so that's great to learn.

I was deeply shocked but, now so relieved :)

Thank you - appreciated.

He's (Fred) done really well with his latest KM build - he's made it a very
full/feature rich browser and kept it lean - he works hard ...

Kind regards

Which is the main reason I don't use it. Firefox is scrupulous about
patching bugs. When was the last time K-Meleon was patched?

I'm keeping an eye on Seamonkey. At least there is no corporate tie in with
that. It's basically Mozilla 1.8 at this point.

Has it improved in speed and/or stability yet? I'd like to install but
the last time I tried it fell over with monotonous regularity and was
frustratingly slow.

For anyone wanting a direct download of KM version:

Does one have to uninstall the current version before installing the

I'm not sure about the .exe package, but it's also released as a
no-install zip file, which is what I'm trying at the moment.

The .exe package is simply a self-extracting file. Any decent
archiver should open it like a zip file.

It was the alleged googleware betrayal that led the OP to ask for an
alternative to Firefox. If revenue-generating deals with Google and
other search engines are the problem, Opera won't do either.

If Opera was only half as easy to use as Firefox......

<sigh> Thanks for the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astroturfing link
and the education re astroturfing.

How has Firefox gotten in bed with MS, though? What's the deal, and
how did anyone spot this????

Thanks.

I too am very interested in hearing clarification of this claim.

I don't reply to trolls and other such idiots. No adware, cdware,
commercial software, crippleware, demoware, nagware, PROmotionware,
shareware, spyware, time-limited software, trialware, viruses or warez
please.

I don't think anyone made that claim. The alleged MS astroturfer was
just posting FUD about Firefox.

Since Firefox has betrayed us by becoming "googleware"
(betrayalware?) it's time to move on and find an alternative
non-IE browser. Should we, freeware fans, support K-Meleon? But,
wait a minute, that's Gecko to, and can that still be trusted?
What to do? Perhaps this pc veteran will have to switch to
Linux.

Why not just use IE? It's still not giving me any problems. Just disable
ActiveX and you're good to go.
