Pardon my ignorance, I just bought a new computer with Vista and I cannot
find "Run". Any suggestions?

Windows KEY + "R"
or
right click START and under Properties - Start Menu - Customize , enable RUN to be displayed.

You don't need 'run.' Click the Start orb, type the name of what
you want to run and hit enter.
