finding original data

I shut down my computer in the evening, started it up the next morning, but
for some reason it reverted back to some of the factory settings. I still
had my print drivers loaded, but my applications that I had previously
installed were not visible. Went into c drive and could find my files but
some are not accessable becasue the apps are not installed. The data is
there. Could this be a profile problem, maybe the existing profile that is
set up for me is corrupt, and the computer is not recognizing them?

Help is appreciated...............................

not sure, but there is a profile hive cleaner upper avail from/at microsoft.com
