Finding file remnants

I installed lavasoft adaware and subsequently removed it. When I try to load
macafee internet suite it will not install the antivrus part as it detects
the lavasoft programme. I have run searches on my computer,including hidden
files, using all the key words but some files remain. Where can I look next?

Check the registry. Make a System Restore point first as a safety measure.

Is that by using regedit.exe? Do you know what files I am looking for in there?

Use CrapCleaner at CCleaner.com
it has a specific Application>Utility cleaner for Adaware.
Make sure you do not have ALL items checked under Applications.

Yes, Start/Run/regedit

You will use the 'Find' option to search for the keyword: lavasoft
However if you are not familiar with or comfortable using regedit to delete
registry keys I would make an image backup of your system (or at the very
least a System Restore point) before you start.
