I have a worksheet with a list of item numbers and descriptions. some of
the item numbers have ^ and * symbols after them to denote discontinued,
new, etc. Is there a way to do a find and replace all * symbols? I know
that it is the symbol for wild card and I am afraid it will replace all data
on the sheet.

Thanks,

ryanb.

Hi Ryanb,

Precede the * with a ~ (tilde)

An additional note to Niek's answer.

If you are "afraid" of trying something in Excel, just make a backup copy of
the sheet or workbook before the experiment.

And don't forget the "undo" button.
