filters in Outlook 2002 sometimes do not work

I have configured filters in Outlook 2002 to place mail from a specified
account into a specific folder and it works, sometimes. Other times it just
dumps
everything into my inbox. I have four e-mail accounts and I would like each
account to place the incoming mail in separate folders.

Does anybody know why it works sometimes, but not
others?

My folder structure is as follows:

inbox
work mail folder
mom's mail folder
kid's mail folder
dog's mail folder

When the filter works, the mail is moved to one of the folders. If it
decides not to work, it just dumps all the mail in the parent folder
"inbox".

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Any chance of upper case vs. lower case on the accounts ? (ie Microsoft.COM
vs. microsoft.com )
There are times and I cannot explain it, when Outlook just seems to "get
lazy" and a message will slip by. Seen this in Outlook 2002/2003 and Outlook
Express.

That's not a factor anyway, in my experience. As far as I can tell, the
filters perform a case-blind comparison.

OK thanks, That was one I never have been sure about in rules since
sometimes the spam ones for vIaGrA and things like that seem to slip thru.
