Filmstrip

I had to reload Windows XP after a hard drive failure. In Windows Explorer,
I no longer have the option to view photo files in a filmstrip in My
Pictures. The option Filmstrip is no longer listed in Views.

Hi mehnuen,

That might be due to the folder options being set to use Windows Classic
folders. Open the My Pictures folder, and go to Tools>Folder Options>General
tab. In the Tasks section at the top of the Folder Options window, click in
the radio button beside "Show common tasks in folders", then click on Apply
then OK. See if Filmstrip is now available under View.

View | Customize This Folder | Select Pictures or Photo Album

You can view your pictures as a filmstrip in any My Pictures subfolder or
any folder customized as a pictures folder.

Filmstrip view is available in picture folders. Your pictures appear in a
single row of thumbnail images. You can scroll through your pictures using
the left and right arrow buttons. If you click a picture, it is displayed as
a larger image above the other pictures. To edit, print, or save the image
to another folder, double-click the picture.
-----

This issue can occur because the Filmstrip feature requires that Show common
tasks in folders be selected to view the full functionality.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, select Show common tasks in folder: 1. Double-click
the My Computer icon.
2. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
3. On the General tab, click Show common tasks in folder under Tasks.
4. Click OK.
