"FILMSTRIP" is no longer an option in the view menu. Don't know why it disappeared. How do I get it back?

Right click on the folder name. Click on Properties. Click on Customize.
Under What kind of folder... select Pictures.

Sub-folders under my pictures are OK, it's the folder My Pictures that does not give the Filmstrip option

Can you customize the folder My Pictures? Just right click on it (don't open
it) and then Properties, Customize, under folder template, change Documents
to Pictures or Photos.
The filmstrip option is available only if the folder is set to the template
Pictures or Photos under the customize tab. Your subfolders were set this
way by default (the default template Pictures is automatic if the first file
in it is a picture file) but your Picture folder may not have been.

I understand what you are saying, but right clicking my pictures folder & then to properties only has a general tab and a sharing tab. No customize tab as sub-folders do.

Check any other folder on the same drive. You should have a Customize tab.
