After the latest security update, some but not all of my
program files turned blue when looking at them in windows
explorer. In addition, the system also is running very
slow. What does the blue mean? How can I get the system
running fast again? thanks.

Blue files have been compressed by XP probably when you did a disk
cleanup. You can uncompress a file by right clicking on it, select the
general tab, click on advanced and then descelect "compress contents to
save disk space". I don't know how to do a global uncompress.

I don't know if this is related to XPs speed.
