files searching tool

Hi everybody,

It may look strange but I'm looking for a little tool that do exactly the
sames things as Windows explorer for searching files but DON'T search in zip
files.

I would like to search something like "*freeware*.nfo" on D:\ for example
without exploring inside any zip files ; just in real filenames on the disk.
Just like command line "d:>dir *freeware*.nfo /s" but with explorer shell
capabilities (move, copy, delete with the mouse)

I've find Agent Ransack but it's not so usefull as explorer because don't
support drag&drop, can't search several strings at the same time (*free.* ;
free*.*).

I would recommend you Agent Ransack software.
I use it because i just hate Win XP internal Search engine. This piece of
software is free and has a lot of addditional features, which microsoft can
only dream about such as regular expressions and much more.

Click Start/Run, enter the string and click OK: regsvr32 /u zipfldr.dll

Tip: Stop Search from Scanning ZIP files: Un-register the zip and cab
file dlls, then reregister them after that.

Before Search:
regsvr32 /u zipfldr.dll
regsvr32 /u cabview.dll

After Search:
regsvr32 cabview.dll
regsvr32 zipfldr.dll

I love avafind, don't worry, its freeware. (the thirty days thing is for
a trial of the professional addition). With avafind, it catalogs every
file on your computer relatively fast (my experience is 80 gigs in 2
minutes). Finding a file is like lightning. I don't know what i would
do without it.

AVA FIND is so great I would even pay for it <LOL>Its really unusual that
Microsoft couldn't get their 'FIND' utility to be this same standard. "Find"
in Xp is painful.

Have you found a way to do a search within a search using AVA FIND?
Of course, its so fast that to do another search is painless but I was just
wondering if a search on *.txt which results all .txt files on the drive
show up instantaneously then within that collection is there a command or
way to search in that group?

Now that I think about it, i'm not sure if that feature even exists. I
usually search by name and then organize the stuff by category. If they
had boolean stuff, that'd be cool but its freeware so i'm not complaining.
