Files on this CD-Rom drive are read only

I have received this following message when trying to record onto a disc:-
Files on this CD-Rom drive are read only. You cannot copy or move files over
to this CD-Rom drive.
Can anyone help please?

What kind of disk? CD-R, CD-RW?

What burning software are you useing? Ussually Easy CD (or CD/DVD)
Creator or Nero. Version?

Burning all the data at one time, or writing some files on the disk and
comeing back to add more later? For maximum compatability the files
should all be written at once and other activity on the computer should
be avoided while the disk is being burned.
