Files in Sent Folder Automatically Deleted

Recently, my Sent Folder (Outlook 2003) is deleting files haphazardly; last
week, all files from 3/28/2008 (stored in the Archived Sent Folder) through
the 14th of October were gone. Yesterday morning, only the files from the
21st were there and yesterday afternoon only the pm files remained in the
Sent Folder. Has this happened to anyone else? What can be done to keep it
from happening? Can the lost messages be retrieved?

By Archived sent folder do you actually mean your Archive set of Personal
Folders?
If you alter the View, does anything change?

In the Outlook view I have there are the Personal Folders and then under that
there are the Archive Folders with subfolders for Deleted Items, Sent Items
and Search. The Archive Folders is where my messages from the Personal
Folders is sent when they are Archived. When I alter the view, nothing
changes.

Check your archive Folders that you dont also have an archive option set in
them
If you happen to know specifically of a particular mail that has
'dissapeared' does an all folders search reveal it?

The Archive Folder doesn't have the archive option set to be done. How do I
do an all folders search? I have tried it with a Business Contact since I
have linked teh emails to the contacts, but have not been able to find the
items.
