I know that one of you, the cleverer ones than I will have the answer to
this problem.

I show Folders in My Documents in Alphabetical order, but in some individual
folders I want the Files to show in date order.

When I arrange the files in an individual Folder in date order all the
Folders in My Documents are disarranged, but when I arrange these in
Alphabetical order all the Files in an individual Folder previously arranged
in date order are now disarranged.

Is there a way of arranging Folders in My Documents in Alphabetical order
and Files in date order in individual Folders and have them stay that way
permanently?

Hi Janus,

WindowsXP will remember the settings of up to 400 folders, after that it
starts forgetting some. See this from MVP Kelly for a way to increase this
number:

Line 2, increase the folder view size limit to 8000

You can also resolve this with the newest version of TweakUI. Get it here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

After installing, look under explorer/customization, increase the "folders
to remember".
