"Files folders" associated with web page

I see that my FrontPage2003 is creating a folder for each new web page I
create. If the web page is titled new_page, then the folder is titled
new_page_files.

If I delete the folder, the new file is deleted. What has changed to cause
this and how do I stop it?

Thanks! Tom Butler

The new_page_files folder is a thicket folder produced when the page
either:
Is created using an office program such as Word, PowerPoint etc.
Contains VML graphics such as WordArt, text-Boxes or other objects from
the drawing tool bar.

To stop it, don't use VML, and/or do not use Word etc. to create your
pages.

For other reasons to avoid VML graphics see

No, and I am not sure but I think I am not using text-boxes from the tool
bar. When i conduct a "vml" search of the html, I only found this line at the
top: <html xmlns:v="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml"
xmlns:blush:="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:blush:ffice:blush:ffice"
xmlns="http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40">

The pages not forming the "files" folder only has <html>

I am using Dynamic Web Templates and the <html> lin eis at the top of the
page, even before the DWT and does not seem to be part of the DWT.

Replacing the line with <html> does not seem to hurt the file, but when I
delete the folder, the files is still deleted at the same time. I can use one
of the "good" files in my web as a template and rebuild the pages, but do you
know of a way to just unlink the file from those folders? That would save a
lot of work.

Also, what would have caused that in the first place? I have a habit of
duplicating an old file and then using that to make a new one, so I would
easily perpetuate one error.

Thanks for the help.

In Windows Explorer,
Tools->Folder Options - View tag

Scroll down to "Manage Pairs of Web pages and folders"
Select "Manage individually"
Click OK

In Windows explorer, delete the thicket folders.
Open the web in FrontPage and run Tools->Recalculate Hyperlinks
Edit the pages to get rid of the VML reference in the <HTML> tags

If the thickets reappear, you are using VML graphics.
